What is a Community Emergency Response Team?
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
CERT teams are here to provide guidance during a developing threat, assistance in disaster mitigation during or in the immediate aftermath of disaster, large or small and guidance and assistance in the recovery phase of an incident.
In a large scale disaster such as weather event when fire, EMS and police are stretched to their breaking point, when cell service is virtually none existent, radio towers are down and roads are blocked CERT members are ready to respond and we are already in your neighborhood living among you. We may be your most readily available resource in times like these. Do you have what it takes to be part of your community disaster response plan.
